AI Is Creating Greater Manufacturing Efficiency at ReNEW

AI

At ReNEW Manufacturing Solutions, our goal is to be the easiest manufacturer to do business with. Investing in advanced equipment and expanding capacity are important to that mission. But today, some of the most valuable innovations in modern manufacturing are happening in the back office instead of on the shop floor.

Learn how we’ve begun using AI to work more efficiently and respond to customers more quickly.

Reducing Quoting Time for Complex Work

Our goal is always to be the easiest manufacturer to do business with. That’s as much about customer service as great capabilities, and it starts with the quoting process.

AI is helping us get more value from the digital tools we already have. For example, we use Paperless Parts in our quoting process. AI tools have helped us customize and configure that platform for complicated jobs and requirements. As a result, we’re able to provide faster quotes on a wider range of projects, even complex manufacturing work.

Turning ERP Data Into Better Production Decisions

While we don’t use AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude Code on our shop floor, they still indirectly improve what happens there. One of their most valuable applications at ReNEW is helping our team prepare and analyze data within our ERP system.

Work that previously could take days can now take hours or even less. This analysis helps us turn raw production data into practical decisions. We optimize schedules and recognize bottlenecks earlier, ultimately using these insights to determine where in our network work will be most efficient.

The visibility we get from this data analysis gives us greater capacity and lets us maintain reliable lead times across complex programs.

Preparing AI Agents to Support Order Processing

We anticipate that we’ll soon integrate AI agents into simple but time-consuming order-entry tasks. We’re aiming to develop agents that can monitor a shared order inbox, begin building incoming orders in our ERP, and flag possible discrepancies involving purchase-order pricing or requested lead times.

These tools would not replace the people who currently manage those responsibilities. Instead, they would handle routine admin, and the challenging issues our customers have would get more attention from our team. AI will never replace the human support that strong manufacturing relationships require.

What’s Next: CAD, Engineering, and Beyond

AI capabilities have changed quickly over the past few years, and we expect their role in manufacturing to evolve in much the same way. Engineering and CAD, for instance, are areas where we see a lot of promise. Autodesk’s work connecting Claude with Fusion demonstrates how these tools may help with some structured engineering activities.

Direct shop-floor applications are likely to expand as well. Our embrace of cutting-edge technology is part of our strength as a manufacturer, and we’ll monitor new capabilities as they appear in the industry. Our focus is always to adopt new technology when it will make us more efficient and benefit our customers.
